First Gymnastics Class--DISASTER

I have been looking forward to this day for 4 weeks now--Ryleigh Kate's first gymnastics class!  She is taking gymnastics at Head Over Heels off Valleydale Road.

So, we walk into the gym and this is a sure enough REAL gymnastics gym.  I see 4 and 5 year olds doing back tucks on the beam and twists on the  bars.  I am THRILLED that I have picked such a wonderful place for Ryleigh to take classes at.

Well, Ryleigh and I walk into the baby gym area.  I am dressed in my hot pink Under Armour attire and Ryleigh is dressed in her Glitter-Leo leotard (cutest baby by far!).  We are hot to trot !

Class begins and the babies are playing on all of the equipment and exploring the tiny beam, tiny bars, and all of the mats.  About 5 minutes into "play time" we decide to try out the tunnel mat.  I place Ryleigh inside of it, she looks up and smiles at me.  I pick her up and she has POOPED all in the mat.  OH MY GOODNESS!  Humiliated, I walk over to the instructor and tell her that Ryleigh had a little accident.  The instructor has to PICK THE MAT UP and CARRY IT OUT of the gym.  The whole place REAKED of Ryleigh's poop.  So, I take Ryeigh to the bathroom to change her (thank goodness I brought an extra leotard!).  We go back to the play area and just continue playing.

No lie, about 5 minutes later she poops AGAIN!  This time I heard it and I rushed her to the bathroom to change her once again.  By this time, the smell is REAL bad.  Amy and my mom are in the bleachers about to wet their pants they are laughing so hard (by the way, this is all on tape because Amy was filming).

So, we come BACK to the mat for more playtime.  Ryleigh hangs on the parallel bar and rolls on the mat.  The kids line up for a game, and that is when I felt it...once AGAIN she has pooped, but this time ALL OVER ME!!  I REAK of baby poop! I am pretty sure noone knows she did it again, so we quickly finish up the game and put our hands in to say "1,2,3 WE LOVE GYMNASTICS", and I rush her back to the bathroom again.  Needless to say, I was completely mordified--first time (of many I am sure) I have been embarrassed by my child.  The entire gym was so stinky not only because of her stinky booty, but because I reaked of it too!

She had a GREAT time for the small about of time she was able to play.  I am sure that everyone will remember Ryleigh Kate as the kid who crapped all over the mat the first day.

Ryleigh's First Birthday

Wow it is great to be back in the blogging world!  We recently moved (more on that later) and we finally have internet access.

Can you believe my angel turned 1 on May 21?  WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?  I spent months and months planning the perfect first birthday.  Nothing but the best for my little girl.

At first we were going to have her birthday party at our house (the old one).  Well, we ended up selling it!  We actually closed on it the week after her party!  There was no way I could have the perfect party for her in a tornado wrecked house.  So, plan B was to have it at the in-laws--AKA "Party Central".

Ryleigh is ALL girl and her Mama is too :-)  So, I decided that Ryleigh would love a zebra print and hot pink birthday party.  For months and months I was completely obsessed with looking at zebra themed birthday parties online and on pinterest. I even saw a hotpink e-z-up and I HAD to have it.  Well, I ended up buying 2 of them  because they were just so perfect!  I ended up finding a deal on a birthday cake from Posh Cake Designs on Facebook.  I got to design her birthday cake myself which was so fun!  I searched forever for the perfect balls to put in a ball pit for the kids to play in (which was the BEST idea by the way).  I also googled first birthday ideas.  I ended up finding the most precious idea for a 1st birthday.  We created a time capsule for her to open on her 18th birthday.  In it guests put in items from 2012 such as song lists, sweet letters, pictures, receipts, personal items, a cell phone, etc.   It was so great to see what everyone put in there.  Some of the items brought us all to tears.  For example, my mom put in an entire book she filled out titled Letters from Grandma or something like that.  She started filling it out BEFORE Ryleigh was even conceived!  Grandmother put in a few stamps Granddaddy had saved, coins from her birth year 2011, and then a little note that says "graduation present" which was a $100  bill.  Now, that brought us all to tears!  It hit us then that Grandmother will not be around when Ryleigh graduates, and more than likely other's will not be either! It was a sure enough reality check.

Back to party planning...  I searched FOREVER for the perfect party outfit and cake smash outfit.  I wanted a little romper with big ruffles on the butt in zebra print.  I ended up finding a precious outfit which was just what I had in mind.  I also found a feather hat with matching bloomers for her cake smashing.  All of which had a 1 and her name monogrammed on it.

Food was another part of the planning.  What food should we have at the party?  We decided on chicken salad, hot pink cookies (Mamie and I made those), chocolate covered strawberries (thanks to TaTa and Sa), candy kabobs (which were totally NOT worth the time and effort put into them), and pb&j for the kids.  The water bottles had labels on them that said "Happy 1st Birthday Ryleigh Kate", and we had plenty of cokes and pink juice.

For her birthday present we got her an anywhere chair from Pottery Barn.  I have heard several moms say that it was a perfect 1st birthday present and it will grow with her.  So, I ended up ordering an oversized pink one with white polka dots with her name monogrammed (of course :-) She absolutely LOVES it!  It sits in our living room with the other furniture.

The day of the party could not have been any better. Ryleigh had her own personal photographer, Leslie Hinton. She did a fabulous job! The day was literally picture perfect.  The weather was perfect.  The food ended up perfect. Her outfit ended up perfect. My outfit ended up perfect (yes, the mother of the baby had to dress for the occasion too!)  She ended up with SO many gifts that are so greatly appreciated.  She plays with all of them!

Below you will find a few pictures from the party.

First Zoo Trip

Saturday, April 28th Ryleigh went on her first trip to the zoo!  We went with Gigi, Easton, Hailey, and LiLi (Lisa, Hailey's mom).  People can say all they want to say about an 11 month old not understanding what is going on at the zoo, but Ryleigh and Easton had a blast!  You could see the excitment in their eyes as we approached new animals.  They loved the colorful animals.  They especially loved when an animal was very close to the glass.  Ryleigh would reach her hand out as if she could touch the animal. As we strolled through the zoo she was looking around and taking in every moment and every sight.  As a matter of fact, it was hard to get her to take a nap because she was so interested in the things that were going on around her.

One of the first things we did was see the sea lion show.  Both babies sat up so still and watched as the sea lion did its tricks.  When the crowd would make a noise, so would the babies.   It was such a joy to see them interacting with the show.

Easton let everyone know when lunch time came around.  We sat outside of the elephant exhibit and fed Ryleigh and Easton.  As we sat there feeding them, our moms sat there and cried.  We laughed at them! My mom said that she is living inside her fantasy world.

After lunch time, it was nap time.  Easton was the first one to crash.  About an hour later Ryleigh finally went to sleep.  Once they were asleep, they were out!  We wanted to ride the carousel and play on the splash pad, but apparently they thought the nap was too important.

After nap time we ate ice cream and waited on the train.  We had a wonderful time riding around the zoo on the train. Except...I remember that train ride being way longer when I was little!

We spent about 6 hours at the zoo.  I would say that Ryleigh liked the big lizard and the sea lions the best! It was such a wonderful and memorable day.  You can see a few pictures from the day below.

Ryleigh's First Easter

Ryleigh's first Easter was so wonderful!

Saturday afternoon we went to our church, Hueytown Baptist, for an Easter Egg hunt.  We had a great time!  Ryleigh found 2 eggs!!  She wasn't too fond of the grass, though.
Amy bought her this Easter bunny outfit to wear.
Ryleigh played a game of Pick-Up-Ducks but she changed the rules a little bit :-)
She was happy so have 2 eggs to put in her basket.

The night before Easter we all sat down at the kitchen table to dye Easter eggs.  Adam and I have not dyed eggs in years!  I even misread the directions and didn't realize we needed vinegar.  So, off went Daddy to Gigi's house to get some vinegar at 8:00 at night so that Ryleigh's first Easter would be perfect--egg dying and everything!
We decorated the eggs before we dyed them.

The Easter Bunny visited our house this morning!  Ryleigh has her own special Easter that we had made for her.  It looks like the Easter bunny was very kind to our sweet girl...
Her basket had 2 swimsuits, a stuffed bunny, puffs, yogurt melts, sparkle tennis shoes, a book, bubbles, a summer splash play center, a toy cell phone, a toy big phone, a sippy cup with a straw, and a piano.

I searched for months and months and months for the PERFECT Easter dress (you know how I am!). Last weekend Gigi (my mom) found "The" dress at the most random place ever...JCPenny! Who goes there anymore? I wanted a white or light pink frilly, girly dress. Look what Gigi found...
Ryleigh's socks were made special by Mamie (my gradnmother).

After church we went over the The Stevens to hang out and have fun!  We took pictures BEFORE all the boys got dirty.  We also hunted Easter eggs again!  Ryleigh found more eggs this time (with Mommy's help), and she ended up with $1.25 from her eggs.  Landon, however, ended up with $26!!  He was the big winner.
